Job: Lab Technician (Part Time)

Location: Covington, VA 24426 (Onsite)

Shift: Shift: 8am to 12pm

Pay Rate: $28.35/hr.

Job Description:

The Laboratory Technician is responsible for performing testing of pulp and paperboard to ensure the mill meets quality specifications.

Required Qualifications:

• Proficient computer skills (including MS Office, most importantly Excel and Microsoft Word).
• Willing and able to walk and work in an industrial location indoors or outdoors, including walking up and down steps with all safety equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, ear plugs, gloves, steel-toed shoes, etc.)
• Eligible to work in the United States

• Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with subordinates, peers, managers and contractors
• Excellent communication skills – must be able to communicate quickly any unusual result or inspection finding

The Laboratory Technician-Micro Lab will perform the following work functions:

• Collecting samples in an industrial setting, such as the following:
• Stock & Additives (stock samples)
• Finished product (Paper/paperboard)
• Perform analyses using instruments in the onsite laboratory. Analysis includes bacterial testing, and other internal process analyses.
• Entering analytical results in a database or spreadsheet for reporting; perform data analysis
• Maintain proper housekeeping in the laboratory
• Ensuring that laboratory instruments have proper preventative maintenance and care.
• Checking that laboratory chemical inventory is adequate.
• Adherence to all mill safety rules, participates in safety programs and meetings with the goal of improving safety at the mill
