Job Description

Overview: Mauldin First Baptist Church is seeking a dynamic and visionary Family and Discipleship Pastor to join our ministry team. This individual will oversee a comprehensive strategy for families and children from birth through college, as well as guide the discipleship process for the entire church. The role includes managing member assimilation, small groups, Sunday School classes, first impressions, and guest follow-up.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Family and Children's Ministry:

• Develop and implement a holistic strategy for ministering to families and children from birth through college, working with the Children and Student Pastors
• Provide leadership and oversight for all children’s and youth programs, ensuring they align with the church’s mission and vision.
• Plan and oversee special events, programs, and activities that engage families and foster spiritual growth.
• Coach children and student pastors on an ongoing basis.
• Develop and lead strategy with Mauldin Christian Academy.

1. Discipleship Process:

• Develop a comprehensive discipleship strategy that guides church members from initial faith commitment to mature discipleship.
• Oversee the assimilation process for new members and current members, ensuring they are integrated into the church community and connected with appropriate resources and ministries.
• Lead and coordinate small group ministries, ensuring groups are effectively discipling participants.
• Lead and coordinate adult ministries, including Young Adults, Middle Adults, and Senior Adults.
• Manage and support Sunday School classes, providing training and resources for teachers and leaders.
• Manage and support the online experience, ensuring an encouraging online experience for guests

1. First Impressions and Guest Follow-Up:

• Develop and oversee a first impressions ministry that creates a welcoming environment for guests and newcomers.
• Implement a robust guest follow-up system to ensure visitors feel valued and connected.
• Train and equip volunteers for first impressions roles, including greeters, ushers, and hospitality team members.

1. Leadership and Collaboration:

• Work closely with the pastoral staff and ministry leaders to ensure alignment and collaboration across all areas of ministry.
• Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers and ministry leaders within the discipleship ministry.
• Regularly evaluate and assess the effectiveness of programs and initiatives, making adjustments as needed to achieve desired outcomes.

1. Administrative Duties:

• Ensure all programs and activities comply with church policies and procedures.
• Maintain accurate records and reports related to ministry activities and participation.

Qualifications:

• A deep, personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a calling to pastoral ministry.
• Bachelor’s degree in Christian Education, Ministry, or a related field
• Proven experience in family ministry, children’s ministry, and/or discipleship roles.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and administrative skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to relate to people of all ages.
• A passion for fostering spiritual growth and community within the church.
