Job Title: Lab Manager

Location: Springfield, Illinois

Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 10-hour shifts

Position Summary

The Lab Manager is responsible for leading day-to-day cannabis extraction and distillation operations while ensuring all activities are compliant, efficient, and quality-driven. This role supervises at least two extraction technicians and collaborates across departments to maintain high production standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and execute ethanol extraction, decarboxylation, distillation, formulation, and post-processing procedures.
• Ensure compliance with all state cannabis regulations and internal SOPs.
• Manage inventory, equipment maintenance, and lab supply levels.
• Oversee data entry and product tracking for accuracy and traceability.
• Perform in-process and final product QA testing to ensure consistent quality.
• Train and mentor junior extraction technicians.
• Assist with facility tours and participate in onsite interviews when necessary.
• Support cross-functional teams and occasionally step into other roles (e.g., grow or cannery) as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be 21+ years old.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of cannabis extraction and distillation experience required.
• Strong understanding of lab procedures, GMP standards, and safety protocols.
• Prior team leadership or mentoring experience preferred.
• Excellent communication, multitasking, and organizational skills.
• Valid driver's license (as required by location).
• Must pass a background check and qualify for a state-issued badge.

Work Environment

• Standing/sitting for extended periods; ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Exposure to loud noise, fluctuating temperatures, and low natural light.
• Operation of forklifts and elevated work platforms (training provided).
• Regular work in both cultivation and manufacturing environments.
