Job Description

The Environmental, Health, and Safety Manager (EHS Manager) will lead a proactive health and safety management system, combined with strong employee engagement and an environment that fosters continuous improvement. You will provide leadership and oversight to the Environmental, Health, and Safety, EHS functions, activities, and performance for the Georgetown site. You will establish awareness, while consistently improving our preventative measures and create strong working relationships with the site leadership team. You will be a key leader for managing sustainable health and safety programs through the incorporation of impactful operating processes. You will ensure Manitex proactively leads practices in environmental, health, and safety standards and compliance

Responsibilities

  • Create, maintain, and improve EHS Manual and employee EHS handbook
  • Deploy safety, industrial hygiene, and environmental processes directed toward preventing accidents, eliminating safety hazards, minimizing waste, and preventing pollution.
  • Manage any and all near misses and or accidents working with the department leaders making sure incidents are reported and investigated correctly.
  • Develop and manage EHS calendar and ensure weekly, monthly, and annual communications and training to make EHS a continuous improvement activity.
  • Analyze and ensure compliance with all applicable Environmental, Health, and Safety regulations applicable to the local laws and regulations
  • Liaison with regulatory agencies and external stakeholders
  • Identify and manage third-party contractors
  • Partner with leadership to integrate a strong culture of EHS ownership, performance, and compliance.
  • Manage workers’ compensation reporting and case management activities
  • Work closely with site safety leads to manage documentation and safety training.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections
  • Identify and facilitate safety training including management of LMS system
  • Facilitate employee classroom training
  • Coordination with local regulatory environmental agencies
  • EHS Data collection
  • Reporting of key performance indicators
  • Lead Safety Council

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental, safety, industrial hygiene, facilities management, sustainability, and/or other relevant degree.
  • 5+ years of progressive EHS experience in a heavy equipment manufacturing environment.
  • Spanish language proficiency is a plus
  • Current certifications in First Aid, CPR, OSHA, 30-hour Construction Safety and Industry Standards plus familiarity with DOE 10 CFR Part 851 highly desirable
  • Expertise in risk assessment, project management, communication, conflict resolution and problem solving
